Foundations of Encounter Coaching E-Course

Welcome to the course! Following is a quick intro to the course, what's required to complete it, and some tips on how to get the most out of it.

    What You'll Learn
Encounter Coaching is a specialized form of the coaching approach that uses encounters with Jesus to create personal transformation. If Encounter Coaching is a house, practical coaching is its foundation. This course is designed to introduce you to the foundational skills that underlie all types of coaching: skills like setting goals, developing options, action steps, intuitive listening, and asking powerful questions.

    How to Use the Materials
This course has three main elements:

    1. CONCEPTS (Book)
Readings from the book, Leadership Coaching by Tony Stoltzfus will introduce you to the foundational concepts of the coaching approach. You'll be lost if you don't do the reading! (And your trainer will not leave the 99 each week to fill in one person who isn't keeping up :-). You will need to purchase a copy of the book to do the course reading. (Do this first each week.)

    2. DEMONSTRATIONS (E-Course)
This e-course includes approximately seven hours of coaching demos and debriefings, introduced by quick reviews of the underlying concepts, to help you apply what you are reading in the book. Watching a great coach at work is one of the best ways to learn to coach! (Complete this portion after the reading.)

    3. PRACTICE (Live sessions)
You'll get a chance to practice your new skills with five hours of live practice time. If you are taking the course with a cohort, you'll get the practice schedule from your trainer. If you take this course as an independent study, LM regularly holds a Foundations Practice Webinar (its free with this course, and required for certification) where you'll practice with others on-line. Check our event calendar for webinar dates and times. (Do this last, after you've completed the reading and demos).

    Time Required
The whole course (including reading, watching the demos and practice time) should take around 20 hours to complete.
